HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT VIDEO INTERVIEWS?

We are always looking for innovative ways to improve the recruitment experience for candidates and employers. Video Interviewing is becoming more widely recognised as an efficient way to help assess candidates during the screening process.
For those who haven’t experienced a video interview, it’s a one-way pre-recorded interview used during the early selection process. The hiring manager or recruiter creates specific interview questions, inviting candidates to video record their responses. Typically, a time limit is set for each response and a decision made as to whether retakes are allowed. Once completed, the video is uploaded so the recruiter can view, share and replay the video to make a decision on the next step in the recruitment process.
During a recent study out of 400 job seekers, almost 50% preferred the benefits of video interviews provided the system is easy to use. Employers and recruiters feel that video interviews are helpful in reducing time spent on scheduling interviews, increases consistency across interview questions and reduces the amount of time candidates spend on phone or face to face interviews.
But what about the candidates who don’t feel comfortable with a video interview? We are also finding that job seekers will turn down a job role if they are restricted to a video interview to move forward to the next step.
Whether you’re a hiring manager or job seeker, we look forward to your thoughts about video interviews. What was your experience like? Do you feel this process is a positive experience and does it give you the chance to ‘put your best foot forward’ when applying for a job?
