The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report was presented to members of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), bringing together business leaders from various industry sectors. The 2 hour presentation at One International Towers, Barangaroo, hosted by Marsh & McLennan addressed the way risk could impact an organisation and the multitude of global risks that businesses face.

Thanks to the AICD for organising this very insightful presentation led by International Guest Speaker Richard Smith-Bingham, Director at Marsh & McLennan and Herve Lemahieu, Director, Lowy Institute.

Industry experts highlighted the need for business to understand more precisely the key for sustainable success. Nurturing the right culture and a need for Boards to be open for discussion, self reflection and decision making were raised in addition to investing in skills, investing in people and enhancing process.

It was quite clear that ‘change is a certainty and flexibility, adaptability and strategic vision is key’, plus using risk to competitive advantage.
